Baked Turnips with Goat Cheese & Cream

Masquerading as scalloped potatoes, these baked turnips offer a sharp twist on a classic dish that goes particularly well with roasted meats. The side dish may be prepared ahead of time and reheated in the oven before serving. We'll be enjoying them tonight with pan-roasted veal chops.

Serves six. A GET original recipe.
Thinly slice three to four medium turnips and place on edge in oiled ramekins or muffin tin cups. Top each with a tablespoon of heavy cream, goat cheese crumbles, fresh minced thyme and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Salt and pepper to taste. Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 35-40 minutes or until golden on top and tender when pierced with a fork.
