Allium Invasion

By the looks of the color bursting from the edges of these leaves, there's a giant allium blossom the size of a cantaloupe in there somewhere. These bulbs are placed in between the lacecap hydrangeas in the front yard so the tall blossoms will stand above the spring greenery.

  1. That is one cool looking allium. It doesn't look anything like the ones I have poking up. Mine must be the more pedestrian varieties.

  2. I have to find out the exact species. The bulbs went in last fall and this is the first time we've seen the foliage.They were the size of baseballs.
